THE PEA FORMAT

Hello there, we all want to score good grades in language, and the PEA format is something you NEED to know, today I will be taking you through the PEA format with an example.

WHAT IS A PEA FORMAT?

The point evidence analysis (PEA for short) is a model used for body paragraphs you will be asked to include these 3 parts. These parts help readers follow your analysis.

P=POINT

Each paragraph should begin with a clear topic sentence stating the paragraph's point (YOUR BASIC IDEA).

Your point should be a claim, something that needs to be supported with evidence. The point should be YOUR idea, not an idea from another source, and make sure your point is short and clear.

E=EVIDENCE

Once you state the point the paragraph intends to make, provide evidence to support that point. That evidence can take a variety of forms: examples, descriptions, quotations, paraphrases, statistics, anecdotes, etc.

 The amount of evidence you include will depend upon the point you make. Remember to introduce and cite any evidence you bring in from outside sources.

A = Analysis

For each piece of evidence, you need to explain what you want your audience to see (what you see). Fully explain a couple pieces of evidence rather than a list of many pieces of evidence.

After you provide and explain your evidence, you need to connect it to your thesis. show how it supports your larger claim for the paper. This is where you share your insights about the evidence you have selected.

EXAMPLE:

so now to know what a PEA format is let's start with our example; before that let me introduce what the text I'm analyzing about

this is one of the most famous Indian tales from the Tenail stories  TENALI SALUTES THE DONKEYS tale discusses that all people are equal

Point:

equality, this tale discusses that all people are equal and no one has the right to discriminate against others because of their class or anything for that matter.

Evidence:

“A very orthodox teacher named Tathacharya” was a royal teacher and he had a habit of covering his face to avoid looking at Smarthas he justified his rude action by saying smarthas are sinners and that seeing a sinner's face meant that one's next life would be spent as a donkey. so Tenail teaches the royal teacher a lesson, so one-day tenail, the king, and tathacharya were on heading to a picnic and he salutes the donkeys in the path and explains his action to the puzzled king “I was paying his respect to tathacharyas ancestors, who had become donkeys after looking at the faces of smarthas”  tathacharya understands that he has made a mistake and never coved his face again “Tathacharya understood Tenail’s harmless behavior, and from that day forward, never covered his face again”.

Analysis:

Discrimination has been with us for years but this story projects the importance of equality, and how it is always diversity that wins against discrimination. Until now we have a little more bias left and this tale reminds us that even a little bit of inequality can cause a lot of misfortune. equality is making sure that everyone can leverage their talents. Throughout much of the 20th century, the average woman earned about 60% of what the average man earned. Starting in the late 1970s, there was a substantial increase in women’s relative earnings, with women coming to earn about 80% of what men earned. This historic rise plateaued in 2005 and, since then, the pay gap has remained roughly unchanged.
